We were warned by many people before we left Bangkok – ‘all you’ll find in Pattaya is a so-so beach, cheap drinks and sex’. However, longing to set foot on some sand, gaze upon a blue ocean and escape from our busy lives in Bangkok, we decided to check it out with some friends.
It was another long weekend (mother’s day). So, to avoid the inevitable traffic, we woke, jumped on our motorbike and were on our way before 6am.
Now, anyone who knows me will know that I am far from a fan of two-wheeled vehicles. However, I must admit that the ride to Pattaya from Bangkok was really beautiful. Traffic was minimal, the breeze was wonderful and the scenery was fantastic!
After checking into our incredible hotel, we made our way to the beach for lunch. There we sat – on our beach chairs, under umbrellas and an endless blue sky. Mountains of seafood were bought to us, while we watched the tourists jet-ski, swim and parasail. Satisfied and unable to move, we remained there for hours.
When we eventually returned to our hotel, we made a beeline directly for the spa. Time to really relax.
We were introduced to a Thai herbal steam, a wonderful sea salt scrub and to-die-for aromatherapy massage. No stress could outlast this!
The following day, we jumped back on our bikes and headed for a nearby winery. Breath-taking. Unbelievable. Delicious. Pure beauty. As a picture is worth a thousand words, I will let a few of our photos describe this place further.
On the way, we also stumbled upon Mimosa. A lovely, and quirky little place where restaurants, fun parks and shops can be found. This was an interesting little stop.
For our final night, we dropped into the Hard Rock Café for a delightful buffet dinner.
There really is a lot to see and do around Pattaya – islands, wineries, ‘dinosaur’ parks, underwater worlds, tiger zoos and water sports. However, I think it really is necessary to either have your own transport or do a bit of research beforehand so that you are able to direct drivers or locate buses.
Pattaya – worth exploring.

we were more lucky renting a car in Thailand from BK to Pattaya, so we could see little bit more 🙂 it’s a lovely place but I dislike seeing all those ‘sugar-daddies’ and that girls tried to flirt with my husband even thought we hold hands haha 🙂
